Just wanted you all to know that I'm changing my designer name from ScrapbyColor with Holley to Holley Berry Designs.

I'm starting at a new store soon, and I've been wanting to change my designer name for awhile. At the new store you'll find me under Holley Williamson, so I wanted my designer name to start with my actual name. Hopefully it won't be too confusing. I'll be redirecting this blog to my new one, probably next week if I can figure everything out. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Template Pack #33-40 and a Freebie

Well I'm still waiting to hear if Best Buy can recover the files that I couldn't access on my external hard drive. Lesson learned: I now have two external hard drives. I always backed up the things (like pictures and scrapbook pages) on a flash drive also, but I didn't ever backup my design stuff. I didn't think it would be the end of the world if I lost it (which it's not), but come to find out I'm pretty sad if I do lose it. So I'll get back to my Articles of Faith book eventually but I might have to start over, so it'll take awhile.

In the mean time I have a new template pack this week at Scrappin Digi Kreations and it's 40% off. It has 8 templates in psd and png formats. 4 of the templates are brand new, never before released on my blog. The other 4 were freebies, but no longer available for download.

Well I don't have my Articles of Faith booklet done. It was taking a bit longer than I expected, but I was a little over half way done. Then I ran into some major problems with my external hard drive. I WAS going to try and get the twenty 5x7 pages done by next week, but I'm not sure anymore. I've got to figure out what's going on with my external hard drive (I'm kicking myself that I didn't get two.) Anyway, I'm a little frustrated but hopefully I'll be back soonish.

Articles of Faith Part 4

Well I finished my "Articles of Faith" series! Yea! The fourth part is available at Scrappin Digi Kreations. It illustrates Articles of Faith #10-13.

I'm going to be making brag-book size booklet of the Articles of Faith, hopefully this week. In case you are wondering, the Articles of Faith are just some concise statements of what Mormons believe. I got an email this morning and it had a spoof on the Articles of Faith. Hopefully it doesn't offend anyone, because while I believe that the Articles of Faith are scripture, I can still have a sense of humor about our Mormon culture. So here's the real Articles of Faith first, and the spoof second.

Articles of Faith

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.

3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; thatZion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will dreign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

All right and here's the funny one and I don't know who wrote this so sorry I can't give them credit. It is pretty funny if you our familiar with Mormon/LDS culture.

Articles of Faith of Mormon Culture

1. We believe in SUVs and minivans, as the form of transportation, and in knee length shorts, which are always nice, and in the multilevel marking.

2. We believe that church ball players should be punished for their own fouls, and not for unsportsmanlike aggression.

3. We believe that through bread crumbs, cheese, creamy soups, and rice all casseroles can be saved through obedience to ward cookbooks and creativity in the mixing bowl.

4. We believe that the first layers and ingredients of the Dip are: first, beans; second, cheese; third, chopped tomatoes; fourth, the gift of sour cream; fifth, olives; sixth, salsa; seventh, guacamole, that is, if you have it.

5. We believe that a Mormon should have a distinguished or a cute name, that it is appropriate to name a child after a church leader or a historical figure including an ancestor, that alternative spellings and French prefixes only add to a name, and that when referring to the names of General Authorities, middle initials should be a part thereof.

6. We believe in the same wall decor that exists in many Mormon homes, namely, framed family proclamations, vinyl lettering, inspirational word signs, family photos, pictures of temples and Jesus, and so forth.

7. We believe in the gift of the re-gift, church books, crafts, family photos, baked goods, emergency supply kits, and so forth.

8. We believe in sparkling grape juice so long as it is nonalcoholic; we also believe in bringing root beer and sprite to ward parties.

9. We believe in all that we have scrapbooked, all that we will now scrapbook, and we believe that we will yet scrapbook many great and important things pertaining to our family, friends, pets, and vacations.

10. We believe in the literal mixing of ketchup and mayo and in the generous application of ranch dressing; that CBAs (church-based acronyms) will be used to describe YM/YW, PEC, the Y, NCMO, and CTR; that Mitt Romney will get Mormons to vote for him any time he runs; and, that the Mormons will enjoy reading Twilight and The Work and the Glory.

11. We claim the privilege of trying to identify common acquaintances with any visitor at church, and allow all other people at church the same privilege, and let them name drop the names of Famous and general authorities how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to scoutmasters, pampered chef hostesses, and the writers of the U.S. News and World Report Rankings for professional schools, and in obeying, honoring, and sustaining Glenn Beck.

13. We believe in being above average, good at crafts, optimistic, and being fifteen minutes late everywhere we go. Indeed, we may say that we follow BYU football. We believe rumors about famous people joining the church, we hope to meet the three Nephites, we have endured many pyramid schemes, and hope to be able to endure all pyramid schemes. If there is anything cheap, free, sold in bulk, or given away when somebody is moving, we seek after these things.

Toothy Smiles Revisited

I've been trying to be better about using my quickpages that I download as freebies. I love using a great quickpage, but it is also limiting to what pictures you can use. When they do work out with your pictures it is the best way to get some quick scrapping in. This one is by Megan Turnidge called "Wild Child QP." I did turn the quickpage 90 degrees, and since there was a heart, I had to cover it up with the wild child button I custom made.

This one is "Sea Spirit QP Sampler" by Delicious Designs by Rina (barely recolored)

Unfortunately I don't remember who this was by and the designer info was not in the download. The kit was called "The Boys are Back." I turned this quickpage 90 degrees also.

Wow I can't believe it's been so long since I last blogged, but we are having a fun busy summer. I was trying to get this done before 4th of July because what is more patriotic than baseball? but it wasn't to be. Hope you all had a fun holiday in the US. I ran in a hot 5K run, followed by a yummy pancake breakfast. And the firework show in our city was especially good this year.

Template Pack #1-8

I released Template Pack #1-8 today at Scrappin Digi Kreations, 40% off the first week! There are 8 templates 12x12 inches and in psd format. They are all in color but I've included a black and white preview in case that inspires you better.

I'm so excited about this layout. I actually made this specifically for a scrapbook for my in-laws that we add to as presents (or part of a present) for things like Father's Day, birthdays, Christmas, etc. (My parents have one too!) But I'll put this layout in my scrapbook too. So the kit I used was an Add-on freebie to "A day, a story..." by Choubinette Designs. What a beautiful kit!

And here is the template! I forgot to put in directions for the background photo. But if you import the photo right above the background photo layer, then press Ctrl G then it will take that shape and layer style, which is on Vivid Light I believe and the opacity is at 60%. Depending on your photo and your background paper you might need to play around with those settings. I also left the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer so you can have a sepia look if you want. I always appreciate the nice comments if you download!

Template Bundle and Baptism QP

Well I put together all 20 of my first templates. They are all the ones that I did in conjunction with a kit and were named after that kit. Now I'm numbering my templates. So these are pre-numbered templates if that makes sense. They are all 12x12 and in psd format. They are a super great price all bundled together and even better for the first week at 40% off at Scrappin Digi Kreations!

Here's an up-close of all the templates. Now I do my templates in color so you can get an idea of where to put different colors, but you can easily use whatever colors you want, so I did include a black and white preview if that helps to inspire you better!

And here are some 8x10 inch Baptism quickpages ready for framing, one for a girl, and one for a boy. You can add a picture, or add a song or quote and give them away as gifts (which is what I've been doing). I made the quickpages using "My EF2: Baptism", "April Showers Mini Kit" and "Family Tree" You can also find these at Scrappin Digi Kreations

Here's an example of what I did with the quickpage. The song is "When I Am Baptized"

Okay so I recently downloaded Inkscape (for Free woohoo!), which is a vector drawing program. I thought I would have to wait to buy expensive Adobe Illustrator before I could do the vector drawing, and then I found out about Inkscape. So I've been learning that new program and am so excited about what I can do with it. I feel like I can finally do the things I've been wanting to do and stumbling my way through. Well I remade these baptism elements because the old ones were bugging me, so here ya go for free! There are two copies of each, one with all the shadows and one without the outer-most shadow. Oh and a little rainbow button since I needed a more girly rainbow for the girly page.

Okay I just discovered something. Last time I bought cheese I bought a different brand of cheese. I use this cheese for making pizza, pasta, etc. The last few pizzas I've made haven't tasted quite the same and honestly not as good. (I make great pizza :) So we were running low on cheese and I went to the store. I noticed that the Mozzarella cheese and the Monterey Jack cheese were right next to each other and the packaging looks VERY similar. I was wondering if that was what was wrong with my pizza. Maybe I accidently bought Monterey instead of Mozzarella. Sure enough when I got home it was Monterey Jack cheese sitting in the fridge. I can't believe I never noticed!

Well I've been playing around with digital painting and it is pretty fun. I painted the trees in this kit on the computer--talk about no mess! So here is my new kit "Family Tree." I've been having a lot of fun with it. Do you ever find that it's hard to get something done until you decide to do it for somebody else? I've never really gotten into family history but I made this kit so I could make a family tree for my mom for her birthday. So now I'm all interested in reading up on my family history. My Eternal Family Songbook

You can now buy the whole "My Eternal Family Songbook" Quickpages from Scrappin Digi Kreations and download it all in one download!

This is a lyric book for the songs the LDS Primary children are learning in 2009. The theme is "My Eternal Family." Personally, I use the songbook for Family Home Evening, betime, or whenever the kids want! The following description is also included in the download:

These quickpages are 4x6 inches. All you have to do is add the lyrics! For several of the months the primary chorister picks between two songs or picks any song within a certain topic. So ask your primary what songs they are planning on working on first!

Just use about any graphics program, open up one of the quickpages (they are jpeg files) and then use the text tool to add the lyrics of the songs on top of the quickpage.

In each folder there is directions for each song and internet links to the lyrics.

The seven parts of the kit are not in order by month so here is a guide:

What's Cookin?

My grandma had the idea to make a family cookbook for Christmas and asked me to make a cover for the book. Here's what I came up with. My aunt printed out two to see if she should do glossy or lustre and decided on lustre. Then she got the 15 or so covers printed. AFTER all that she showed them to my grandma and my grandma immediately saw the mistake I had made. I was soooo embarrassed. But it was too late to fix it!

So I've decided to give this kit "What's Cookin?" away as a freebie to 2 people: The first person to point out my mistake on the cover above. And the first person to guess how many other people caught/said anything about the mistake. Just leave a comment with your guess!

Here is the seventh and final part of mega kit, "My Eternal Family." I made these kits for the songs the LDS Primary children will be learning in 2009. But they can be used for various other personal use things.

For the months of April and July the song choice is very broad. The topic is our Savior. I created these pages specifically for the songs "When He Comes Again" and "I Feel My Savior's Love." But they should be broad enough to apply to just about any song about the Savior. They are also interchangeable (the background colors are all the same.) Also, I didn't make Title pages for these songs since they were so long. I just put the title on the same page as the first verse. But if the songs your primary is singing are shorter, by all means use one of the pages for a title page.

My Eternal Family Songbook Example

Well I had a question about what the LDS Primary Songbook for 2009 should look like when completed. I don't want to mess with copyright issues, so for each song I've been posting the link to copy and paste the lyrics. I also put the link in the download. For each song I'm making a title page, and then one page per verse and per chorus. The files are 4"x6" so you just add the lyrics right on top of the page, print out the pages like a regular photograph and then compile them into a bragbook. They sell little plastic ones at Target for $2. Or you could spend a little more to get one with a nicer cover. Hopefully that answers your questions, let me know if you have any others!

LDS Blog Button Freebie

I've been having fun figuring out how to make an animated button. I've been wanting one for my family blog, and I made this temple today, and so I made a button too! It's the San Diego Temple (where my husband and I were married). I'm making a couple other temples for the next Primary songbook kit. The button is 220 pixels wide and fits perfectly on the side of my blog, so hopefully it works for others too. And by the way, it does have a white border around it, although you can't see it on this blog.

"I Want Candy" Halloween Kit

I'm taking a little break from "My Eternal Family" songbook, but don't worry I'll get the next pages out soon. I am so excited about this Halloween kit and I've been trying to get it done asap so if you want to use the desktop freebie this month you (and I) can use it for as much of the month that is left! My daughter ends up wearing pink almost every year for Halloween and how often do you see pink with Halloween colors? So here is my solution!

I am showing the previews of the elements and papers separately so you can see both to their full advantage, but the kit comes all together. The word art says, "I Want Candy" and "So Sweet, you make my mouth water."

The desktop comes in two different sizes: 1680x1050 and 1024x768. That way if you have something in between, you can just size the biggest one down a little. They are png format. Enjoy!

"Baptism" My Eternal Family 2

My Eternal Family Megakit is made specifically for a song lyric book for the songs the Primary children will be learning in 2009.

Here is the baptism kit. It has 4 papers that are 12x12 and 300 ppi. There are 13 elements: baptism dress, baptism jumpsuit, dove button, fancy number 8, plain number 8, flower, charm bracelet, dress charm, jumpsuit charm, dove charm, number 8 charm, flower charm, and charm link.

These 4x6 quickpages are for the song: "I Want to Be Baptized" (Friend, July 2005) or "Baptism" (CS, p. 100–101). The music leaders get a choice, so you'll have to ask them what they plan on teaching. (Preferrably after your Primary program is already over for this year.)

On the title page I put the title, page number or where the song can be found, and the month the Primary kids are learning the song (May).There is one page for each verse. I made these pages specifically for the song "I Want to be Baptized" but they could also be used for "Baptism." For "Baptism" song you could use page number 3 (with the dove) for verse 1; page number 2 (with the eight) for verse 2; and either the title page or page 1 for verse 3.

My EF1 Quickpages

Well I've been trying to figure out how to release these kits for "My Eternal Family" Megakit--if I should release elements separate from papers, if I should wait until the end to post the 4x6 quickpages, etc, etc. So here is what I'm going to do! I'm going to release the Megakit in 8 parts (since there are 8 songs). I will combine the papers and elements for one song into one part. I changed a few elements that I wasn't very happy with and combined the last two kits I posted. I've decided to also release the quickpages for a particular song at the same time as the kit, and the quickpages will be a freebie. The quickpages will remain freebies until I finish the whole megakit, and then I will bundle them together to be sold. Stay tuned this week because I'll be posting the kit and quickpages for the baptism song. It's a fun one!

Here are the 4x6 quickpages for hymn #85: "How Firm a Foundation". It is the song the Primary children will be learning in February, 2009. The lyrics can be found here:

I am so excited about my next project. I am making a mega-kit called "My Eternal Family." That is the theme for Primary next year, 2009. I love lyric song books. So I got this idea to make a song book for the songs the kids will be learning next year in Primary. Song books are so convenient to use during family home evening or even just before bedtime. I always forget which songs they are working on, and my kids love having pictures to look at anyway.

So I'll release parts of the kit according to song. This first part is for the song, "How Firm a Foundation" and then some items to be used throughout the whole book. When I'm done with all the parts of the mega-kit I will post the whole song book as 4x6 quickpages. I won't put the lyrics in so I don't have to mess with copyright issues. Also, next year there is a new format with being able to choose between two songs some months and for other months picking any song you want within a particular theme. The quickpages will be totally customizable. So the elements should be general enough to be able to use with several different songs. You can just ask your Primary Music Leader which songs they plan on learning next year and put those in.

Will You? Part 1

Wow I didn't realize that it's been awhile since I've posted. We've been having too much fun at the lake and at the beach. Before I leave for vacation I think I might go through withdrawals from the computer but I actually don't. When we went to the lake I was reading Breaking Dawn, by Stephanie Myer, so that probably helped :) However, I do enjoy coming home and getting back into my normal routine.

So, I got to take my brother-in-law and future sister-in-law's engagement photos, and then I added a few scrapbook elements to their announcement photo. So this kit is based off of their wedding colors and the style that they liked and inspired. Their photo was sepia tone, so this kit goes really well with sepia tone pictures. I think that the brown and yellow will look really stunning at their wedding, so that will be fun to see! Enjoy a little bling :)
